Leaking Taps
Dripping taps are an annoyance that need not be tolerated! Not only are dripping taps painfully frustrating, they’re also a waste of our planets most valuable resource… water!

There are typically four types of taps commonly seen in Australian homes today and they all experience different problems from time to time.

Jumper washer taps
These taps have a washer inside that over time wear out, causing the tap to drip. Washers can be replaced, along with the o-rings and the spindles can be lubricated to make them open all the way up and work like new.

Mixer taps
Mixer taps are like the taps you’ll often see in a kitchen. They have a single lever on them that control both the hot and cold water flow. Instead of washers, these taps are slightly more complex, comprising of a series of parts that are all designed to work in unison.These taps can be repaired, however due to purchase costs, it normally works out cheaper to replace them with brand new ones.

Half turn & quarter turn taps
As their names suggest, these taps control water flow when rotated either 90, or 180 degrees. They have a series of seals that over time wear out, resulting in dripping, or leaking. Again, these taps can be repaired, or replaced, depending on make and model.

Sensor taps
Sensor taps operate by allowing motion to signal water flow. You’ll commonly see these in restaurants and bars, however they’re becoming very popular in homes as they’re very hygienic due to dirty hands not having to come in contact with the tap in order to deliver water.These taps have an electrical component to them and can often be somewhat more complicated to repair than the other types.

Toilet cisterns have a lot of moving parts and where there’s moving parts, there’s maintenance.

Water Filters

Backflow Prevention
Is your property safe from water contamination?
Back flow occurs when there is a pressure indifference in a water supply that results in contaminated, or unclean water being drawn back into the domestic water supply. The water that arrives at our taps has been through a cleansing process, which is what makes it safe to consume, however there are scenarios where this supply becomes compromised.
Typically back flow happens as a result of ‘siphonage’. Siphonage occurs in scenarios where there is a build up of pressure at a given source, greater than the pressure in the pipes.
Common Problems
- Bathtubs & showers, where there is an extension on the water outlet that can be submerged. This could be an extension on the bath spout that you use to clean the kids, or even a shower head on a hose.
- Laundry tubs and that have spout extenders.
- Kitchen sinks that have a retractable hand piece.
- Car washing bays.
- Mechanical and service rooms.
- Garbage areas where a hose is used to wash out bins.
- Swimming pool areas where a hose can reach the pool.
All of these areas are a potential ‘back flow risk’ which means that if there is not adequate measures taken, both you and your family are at risk of consuming contaminated water.

Brad and Daniel were completely professional, helpful and excellent workers from start to finish! They diagnosed and fixed the initial problem very efficiently. They explained and provided a detailed quote for a permanent solution. They fitted gas to a room with difficult access and only charged the original very reasonable quote though the job was clearly more difficult than initially thought. Excellent,Brad and Josh turned up on time and completed job with good humour and cheerfulness, overcame difficulties without any stress,I was stressed,they weren’t,kept telling me it’s all good,very reassuring.Brad has been here before to fix leaking taps,no hesitation if he needs to come back.This time had to have sewer pipe relined and new toilet fitted.He and Josh removed tree roots with high pressure water hose then relined pipe,put in new toilet,had to improvise somewhat but they completed job with great success. Brad came to check our water heater as the water was not getting heated.nFirst and foremost Brad’s call out rate was way less than the first plumber I called. He was clear and upfront on the phone on the amount he would charge and how it would be calculated if further work was required. I liked his approach.nOn arrival, Brad turned out to be a very pleasant young man. Someone you felt you could trust in your home. ( this was the feeling i got).nBrad gave us good advice about the issue. He didn’t charge anything extra for the advice or the time taken. Where as the other plumber told me he would charge for every half hour he spent at my place on top of the call out rate. Compared to this Brad was very fair.nI have heaps of plumber details on magnets on my fridge and water heater. A few random numbers i called went to an answering machine and one was very pricey as mentioned before. Brad answered the phone immediately and talking to him I decided i need not look any further. I am glad i did. His magnet will get top spot on my water heater!! 🙂
